Starlight Theatre School
has been in its current premises for 25 years which boasts 3 fully fitted mirrored studios.
As a member of the British Theatre Dance Association, Starlight Theatre School offers a complete curriculum of courses for the beginning student through to those of a professional calibre. Whether you are a young child or an advanced dancer, you will receive only the finest in dance education.
Each pupil is considered an individual and treated as such, so classes and lessons are planned carefully to allow each pupil to blossom in their own time.
All students participate in our 4 core exam subjects which are ballet, Tap, Modern & Lyrical dance enabling them to receive rounded dance training. Additional subjects can then be ‘bolted on’ to tailor the needs of every student.

Taught
Classical Ballet
This is the foundation of all dance. Whatever sort of dancer you want to be, a strong ballet technique will stand you in good stead and is very important and promotes strength, suppleness, co-ordination and poise. As well as offering BTDA qualifications in ballet we also have additional RAD classes taught by Miss Jane Davey.
Tap
A percussive subject, making sounds and rhythms with your feet. Many of our students have gone on to train with Tap Attack.
Modern Jazz
Body movements and isolations are used here with big kicks and elevated work. Shown to its finest in musicals such as Chicago.
Lyrical
A fusion of Ballet and modern dance which is performed with a flowing skirt and bare feet, expressing emotion and feeling to the lyrics. Popular love songs an ballads are used for music and is a favourite among students.

Subjects
Acrobatic
Offering both BTDA graded Acrobatic work and group work for competitions. Acrobatic classes promotes balance, agility, flexibility and motor coordination.
Stage class
Here is where we put all what we have learnt in the above classes into practice. Stage Class students have the option of learning Solos, Duets, Trios and Troupe work for competitions which they participate in regularly in throughout the year. These range from Novice, Open and right up to All England Championship Levels.
Acrobatic Arts
A tumbling syllabus, that gives students the building blocks to work through levels culminating in the performance of aerials and back flips. - See our page dedicated to Acrobatic Arts!
Singing
Singing tuition is booked on a one to one basis with our singing teacher Miss Su Tucker, enabling students to take LCM exams.
RAD Ballet & PBT
Partnered with The Rollini School of Dance, we are pleased to offer Royal Academy of Dance tuition and exams, enabling us to be one of the few schools in the East Midlands that teaches all levels from Pre-priary ro Advanced 2 level, along with PBT (Progressive Ballet Technique) classes.
Musical Theatre
Through BTDA, Starlight Theatre School offers a graded Musical Theatre & Drama programme of study to combine dance, singing and acting skills to become a rounded triple threat performer.
